False Rumours: Water interruptions as a result of non-payment
MEDIA ALERT – FALSE NOTICES AND NEWS
Mangaung Metro would like to reassure residents of the city that there are no envisaged water interruptions as result of non-payment of Bloemwater, as reported by Democratic Alliance (DA) which is an opposition party in Mangaung Metro.
Mangaung Metro is servicing its account with Bloemwater in line with the payment plan agreed upon earlier.
We have been paying Bloemwater’s current account since the meeting with the Minister of Water and Sanitation. Council approved the payment plan on 26 April and the second payment of R22 million was processed last week Friday. The account for March 2018 (which was due on 30 April) was reconciled as part of the arrangement amount as adopted by Council.
The City is complying with the arrangement and will pay the account for April 2018 by end of May 2018. We are awaiting Bloemwater to provide their reconciliation in order for the figures to be aligned on both sides.
The non-payment statement in circulation is “Blue lies” intended at bringing instability within the administration of the Metro.
We have long advised citizens of Mangaung to ignore unofficial information by political parties who are fighting political battles.
The City and Bloemwater’s administrative leadership continue to enjoy each other’s cooperation and are refusing to be part of confusionists.
As the City we will continue to execute our responsibilities as mandated by citizens of Mangaung.
We would once again like acknowledge and express our appreciation for the cooperation of citizens of Mangaung and for engaging with the city and enquiring on all issues affecting them.
Ends.
