SA Weather Services Warns of Possible Heavy Down Pours & Thunderstorms

WARNING BY SA WEATHER SERVICES: POSSIBLE HEAVY DOWNPOURS AND THUNDERSTORMS

The South African Weather Services earlier issued a warning of possible heavy down pours for today and tomorrow which will affect Mangaung and surrounding areas.

The city’s Roads and Stormwater teams are on high alert as well as Traffic and Fire & Rescue services. The Roads and Stormwater Unit actively implemented remedial measures by unclogging blocked stormwater catch pit inlets across the city. This programme is ongoing.

Please also note that in some instances, our stormwater drainage systems become overwhelmed by the heavy downpour and this normally results in flash floods.

Motorists should please take note of the weather alerts and err on the side of safety. Amongst other safety measures, this means not driving on roads which are flooded.
